The Festival of creative sledges has taken place in St. Petersburg

04 February, 2014

For the first time in St. Petersburg the festival where mocking sledges were presented has taken place.

The craftsmen have not only demonstrated their creations, but run down on them from the hill. Not every one has got ot the finish line.
The parade of creative sledges called "SunniDay" (literay – “day of sledges”) was held at the ski resort "Igora .

The holiday has brought together, mainly, young people. It began with the exhibition of miracle sledges and one may get surprised, indeed. First of all, the attention was drawn by the sledges in the shape of an island with palm-tree sitting on it, a tank, a pirate ship and a hairy caterpillar.

At manufacturing of unusual vehicles alls sorts of supplies were used - plastic tubs, inflatable mattresses, rubber boats, empty plastic bottles for water, chairs and even old refrigerators.

The main condition was that a sledge would have a brake, could run down a hill and not fall apart at the start. The latter condition was not met by all.
The second part of the festival was dedicated to the competitions - the creators of sledges have had to demonstrate their skills in operating their vehicles on a slope and surpass competitors in speed.

All in all, the holiday was successful – people who’ve come to see the event were laughing till they dropped. On completion of races the festival went on with quests, contest of snowmen making, siege of snow fortress, snowballs, games, practical jokes and going down the hill on  sledges and plastic sleighs.
